Fillers are technically called ‘dermal fillers’. They are gel injections which are used by licensed dermatologists and medical practitioners to treat cosmetic skin issues like wrinkles and ageing. Fillers are injected in the affected areas, to make skin appear more plump and youthful. They can be injected to fill wrinkles, fine lines and age spots on the face.

2. How long does the effect of fillers last?

Hyaluronic fillers are most popular and their effect lasts anywhere between 3 to 6 months. Fillers can change the appearance of the treated area in a single sitting. It is recommended to undergo temporary filler treatments, as permanent fillers can harm the body in the long run.

3. How long does it take to see visible results?

Dermal fillers are one of the few cosmetic treatments, whose effects are visible in an almost instant time frame. It takes around 4 weeks for the fillers to get integrated with the underlying skin tissue. However, effects are visible right after the treatment is successfully completed.

4. Is it safe to use dermal fillers? What are the side effects?

Fillers are approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) for specific areas of the body like face and hands, for patients above 21 years of age. They are considered safe for these areas. However, they can also pose risks and side effects on the body such as- allergies, rashes, scarring, swelling, bruising and redness of skin.

5. Can one resume normal activity after filler treatment?

Side effects is any that arise after a filler treatment last for around 2 weeks at a maximum. It is advisable not to undergo the treatment right before any important social or personal occasions. Apart from this, there is no particular downtime required after a normal dermal filler treatment. Patients can resume daily activities as usual.
